Linux Professional Track
Lpi Linux Professional track is designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills of Linux systems administrators. Three leves of Linux professional certifications are available currently:
Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1
Linux Professional Institute LPIC-1 is the first certification in the multi-level Linux professional certification program of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), which is the largest and most recognized Linux certification globaly. It mainly validate your ability to perform maintenance tasks on the command line, install and configure a computer running Linux and configure basic networking. No prerequisite is required, but pass 101-500 and 102-500 to achieve the Lpi LPIC-1 certification.
Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2
LPIC-2 certification is the second certification in the multi-level professional certification program of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI), which will validate your ability to administer small to medium–sized mixed networks. Candidates who are planning for the LPIC-2 certification are required to have an active LPIC-1 certification, then pass 201-450 and 202-450 successfully.
Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3
LPIC-3 is designed for the enterprise-level Linux professional and represents the highest level of professional, distribution-neutral Linux certification within the industry. It is the culmination of the multi-level professional certification program of the Linux Professional Institute (LPI). Currently, four separate LPIC-3 specialty certifications are available. Passing any one of the four exams will grant the LPIC-3 certification for that specialty.
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3 Mixed Environments (300-101 retiring on February 23rd, 2022 or 300-300)
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3 Security (303-200 retiring on April 4th, 2022 or 303-300)
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3 Virtualization and Containerization (304-200 retiring on June 20th, 2022 or 305-300)
- Linux Professional Institute LPIC-3 High Availability Systems and Storage (304-200 retiring on June 20th, 2022 or 306-300)
The candidate must have an active LPIC-2 certification to receive LPIC-3 certification, but the LPIC-2 and LPIC-3 exams may be taken in any order.
Open Technology Track
The Open Technology certifications are designed to evaluate the knowledge and skills of open technology tools, such as DevOps tools and BSD Specialist. For Open Technology certifications, single exam is awarded with certification, and there are no prerequisites for the exams.
Linux Professional Institute DevOps Tools Engineer
Linux Professional Institute DevOps Tools Engineer certification mainly verifies the skills needed to use the tools that enhance collaboration in workflows throughout system administration and software development. It is required to pass 701-100 exam successfully to earning the Linux Professional Institute DevOps Tools Engineer certification. There are no prerequisites for this certification. However, an additional certification in the candidate’s primary area of expertise, such as LPIC-1 or a developer certification, is strongly recommended.
Linux Professional Institute BSD Specialist
Earning Linux Professional Institute BSD Specialist certification requires to pass 702-100 exam successfully. It focuses on the practical skills required to work successfully in a FreeBSD, NetBSD or OpenBSD environment and tests the knowledge and skills needed to administer BSD operating systems. There is no prerequisite certification for taking the BSD Specialist Engineer exam. However, it is strongly recommended that a candidate has more than a year of experience in administering BSD systems of various kinds.
