The Overviews OF VMware Certification Tracks

On October 31, 2021, there are two VMware certification exams retired:

• VMware Cloud Native Master Specialist (5V0-71.19)
• VMware Cloud on AWS – Master Services Competency Specialist Exam (5V0-33.19)

Actually, most VMware certifications and exams have been updated to 2021 version. Candidates need to register the valid exam to earn the corresponding certifications.

Among all IT certifications, VMware certification sets the standard for IT professionals and validates the critical skills organizations need to adopt and manage technology that drives desired business outcomes. VMware creates server and desktop virtualization software that streamlines IT operations across the general IT infrastructure, in data centers, throughout the cloud and on mobile devices. VMware’s flagship data center platform is vSphere, which is also part of its VMware vCloud Suite. Also, the other major VMware products include Horizon, vSAN and the vRealize Suite.

Currently, VMware certification has 6 tracks as follows:

• Data Center Virtualization (DCV) Track
• Cloud Management and Automation (CMA) Track
• Security (SEC) Track
• Network Virtualization (NV) Track
• End-User Computing (EUC) Track
• Application Modernization (AM) Track

Each track has four levels, including VMware Certified Technical Associate, VMware Certified Professional, VMware Certified Advanced Professional and VMware Certified Design Expert. The VCTA level is not a requirement for VCP, VCAP, or VCDX levels.

Data Center Virtualization (DCV) Track

VMware Data Center Virtualization (DCV) certifications are designed to gauge your level of skill designing, installing, and managing VMware vSphere environments in a real world environment.

• VCTA-DCV (VMware Certified Technical Associate – Data Center Virtualization 2021)

Earning VCTA-DCV certification proves the holders have a basic understanding of virtualization and vSphere concepts; demonstrate knowledge of data center technology and basic troubleshooting concepts; have a working knowledge of managing cloud resources and basic networking concepts. The written exam is 1V0-21.20 Associate VMware Data Center Virtualization.

• VCP-DCV (VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization 2021 )

VMware VCP-DCV certification validates candidate skills to implement, manage, and troubleshoot a vSphere infrastructure, using best practices to provide a powerful, flexible, and secure foundation for business agility that can accelerate the transformation to cloud computing. The written exam is Professional VMware vSphere 7.x 2V0-21.20.

• VCAP-DCV Design (VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Data Center Virtualization Design 2021)

Earning VCAP-DCV Design certification validates that you have advanced knowledge of end-user computing environments and components, and are able to recommend and design VMware solutions to meet specific goals and requirements, also it improves your credibility among your peers and proves that you have a deep understanding of data center virtualization design principles and methodologies. The written exam is 3V0-21.21 Advanced Design VMware vSphere 7.x.

• VCAP-DCV Deploy (VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Data Center Virtualization Deploy 2021)

The VCAP-DCV Deploy certification validates that you know how to deploy and optimize VMware vSphere infrastructures. It proves that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage best practices that provide a scalable and reliable virtualization platform for your organization. The written exam is 3V0-22.21 Advanced Deploy VMware vSphere 7.x.

• VCDX-DCV (VMware Certified Design Expert – Data Center Virtualization 2021)

VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) is the highest level of VMware certification. Earning VCDX-DCV certification proves you can deliver true business value by validating your expertise in vSphere6.x and enabling the best performance, availability, and efficiency from your infrastructure and applications.

Cloud Management and Automation (CMA) Track

VMware Cloud Management and Automation (CMA) certifications are designed to gauge your level of skill installing, configuring, and optimizing VMware vRealize for your cloud solution.

• VCAT-CMA (VMware Certified Technical Associate – Cloud Management and Automation 2021)

VMware VCAT-CMA certification proves the holders have a basic understanding of virtualization and cloud concepts. The written exam is 1V0-31.21 Associate VMware Cloud Management and Automation exam.

• VCP-CMA (VMware Certified Professional – Cloud Management and Automation 2021)

VCP-CMA certification validates your ability to install, configure and administer a VMware vRealize environment, used to automate key processes within your Data Center in a repeatable, scalable way that leads to efficiency and improved productivity. These skills enable you to simplify and standardize the more complex day to day activities, increasing your credibility and value within the organization. The written exam is 2V0-31.21 Professional VMware vRealize Automation 8.3.

• VCAP-CMA Design (VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Cloud Management and Automation Design 2021)

VMware VCAP-CMA Design 2021 certification validates your ability to design and integrate vRealize Automation solutions within your large enterprise environments. It also improves your credibility among your peers and proves that you have a deep understanding of cloud management design principles and methodologies. The written exam is 3V0-32.21 Advanced Design VMware Cloud Management and Automation.

• VCDX-CMA (VMware Certified Design Expert – Cloud Management and Automation 2021)

Earn VCDX-CMA 2021 certification will validate your skills in designing, planning, and integrating world-class VMware vSphere and vCloud Management and Automation solutions and driving true business value through VMware Cloud Management platforms.

Security (SEC) Track

Currently, only VCTA-SEC and VCP-SEC are available in Security (SEC) track. Security (SEC) validates a candidate’s understanding of VMware’s security solutions and the candidate’s ability to provide entry level support for the security features of VMware products, including NSX-T Data Center, Workspace ONE and VMware Carbon Black Cloud.

• VCTA-SEC (VMware Certified Technical Associate – Security 2021)

VMware VCTA-Security certification validates a candidate’s understanding of VMware’s security solutions and the candidate’s ability to provide entry level support for the security features of VMware products, including NSX-T Data Center, Workspace ONE and VMware Carbon Black Cloud. The written exam is 1V0-81.20 Associate VMware Security.

• VCP-SEC (VMware Certified Professional – Security 2021)

VCP-Security of VMware validates a candidates knowledge of VMware’s security solutions and the candidate’s ability to administer the security features and functions of NSX-T Data Center, Workspace ONE, and VMware Carbon Black Cloud. The written exam is 2V0-81.20 Professional VMware Security.

Network Virtualization (NV) Track

VMware Network Virtualization (NV) certifications are designed to gauge your level of skill designing, implementing, and managing a VMware NSX environment.

• VCTA-NV (VMware Certified Technical Associate – Network Virtualization 2021)

VMware VCTA-NV certification is a hot VMware certificatiom, the holders able to identify use cases and business needs for VMware NSX platform, understand NSX terminology and perform navigation of NSX graphical user interface(s). Also, they are able to explain SDDC and Network Virtualization concepts, VMware Virtual Cloud Network vision, VMware NSX Architecture and NSX portfolio at a high level. The written exam is Associate VMware Network Virtualization 1V0-41.20 test.

• VCP-NV (VMware Certified Professional – Network Virtualization 2021)

VMware VCP-NV certification proves you can transform the economics of network and security operations for your company. It mainly validates your ability to install, configure, and administer NSX virtual networking implementations, regardless of the underlying physical architecture. The written exam is Professional VMware NSX-T Data Center 3.0 2V0-41.20.

• VCAP-NV Deploy (VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Network Virtualization Deploy 2021）

VMware VCAP-NV Deploy certification validates that you know how to deploy and optimize VMware NSX environments. It proves that you have the knowledge and skills necessary to leverage best practices to provide a scalable and reliable virtualized network for your organization. The written exam is VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Network Virtualization Deployment Exam 3V0-643.

• VCAP-NV Design (VMware Certified Advanced Professional – Network Virtualization Design 2021)

VMware VCAP-NV Design certification validates you can gather customer information, including requirements, risks, constraints, and assumptions, and use that information to make design recommendations for NSX-T Data Center solutions. • VCDX-NV (VMware Certified Design Expert – Network Virtualization 2021)

Earning the VCDX-NV certification from VMware will validate your world-class vSphere and NSX 6.x skills and prove you can deliver true business value through designing a VMware NSX-platform-based data center networking infrastructure that meets customer objectives and constraints.

End-User Computing (EUC) Track

End-User Computing (EUC) Track is a new track, which formerly DW Track. is designed to gauge your level of skill designing, installing, and managing Digital Workspace solutions using VMware Workspace One and Desktop Management solutions using VMware Horizon.

• VCTA-EUC (VMware Certified Technical Associate – End-User Computing 2021)

VMware VCTA-EUC certification holder has entry level knowledge of enduser computing and endpoint management concepts. Also this certification has high-level awareness of VMware’s End-User Computing products and solutions, and has the ability to perform basic operations with VMware Digital Workspace products. The written exam is 1V0-61.21Associate VMware End-User Computing.

• VCP-DTM (VMware Certified Professional – Desktop Management 2021)

VMware Desktop Management certifications are designed to gauge your level of skill designing, installing, and managing a VMware Horizon with View environment deployed on a VMware vSphere implementation. • VCP-AM (VMware Certified Professional – Application Modernization 2021)

• VMware Spring Professional

VMware Spring Professional certification is designed to test and validate your understanding of and familiarity with core aspects of Spring and Spring Boot such as: Configuration, Component-scanning, AOP, Data access and Transactions, REST, Spring Security, Auto-configuration, Actuator, Spring Boot Testing. It requires to pass EDU-1202 VMware Spring Professional certification exam.
